Who We Are
Initiative for Sustainable Community Development (ISCoD Kenya) is a youth -led NGO that empowers communities by advancing WASH, environmental sustainability, climate action, and tech-driven development. Operating across six counties since 2021, we partner with organizations to deliver impactful projects and build thriving, resilient communities.

We stay committed and driven in our daily efforts to foster thriving and resilient local communities through WASH programs, environmental conservation, climate action initiatives, technology-driven development solutions, gender equality and wellness initiatives, as well as research and partnerships to enhance our impact.
Environment & Climate Change
Our climate action focuses on mitigation, adaptation, and resilience using the climate and care model, emphasizing care for the earth and people affected. Programs include environmental conservation and climate education for primary schools, Plastic waste recycling, Banana packaging as alternative to plastic
Community WASH Programmes
Access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene is vital for sustainable community well-being. ISCoD runs programs to promote spring protection, participation of youth and women in water sector, train on water quality, and improving sanitation standards, reducing waterborne diseases in communities.
Nyamatuta Village Water Supply
The community water supply project brings ISCoD’s vision to life by enhancing spring protection and guaranteeing access to safe, clean water. As part of this initiative, two schools have been connected free of charge to ensure students remain in class and are not forced to miss lessons in search of water.
Gender Equity and Social Inclusion
Our programs integrate gender mainstreaming and ensure inclusion of youth, women, and persons with disabilities. Partnering with organizations like the ISF-Kenya, we provide community training on mental wellness and overall well-being.
Tech for Development Solutions
Leveraging the computer science expertise of two founders and recognizing the need for technology in sustainable development, the NGO has created digital tools e.g. GIS-enabled GBV case management and Knowledgebase
Research, Development & Partnerships
We drive tailored change through research, innovation, and development, collaborating with key stakeholders—community leaders, government, academia institutions, and experts—to foster sustained progress and improve the lives of those we serve.
